Al Khalil College is an independent Islamic secondary school located in the heart of Glasgow. Established in 2016 by Sheikh Abdul Ghafoor (Imam of Glasgow Central Mosque), the college provides a faith-based learning environment rooted in Islamic values and academic excellence.
Operating from the historic Abbotsford Public School building, Al Khalil College offers education to both boys and girls, many from disadvantaged backgrounds and single-parent households. The college is committed to raising confident, practicing Muslims who excel academically and contribute positively to society.
Al Khalil College delivers the full Scottish Curriculum for Excellence alongside a strong foundation in Islamic education. Students are taught:
Qur’an and Tajweed
Islamic Studies (Aqidah, Hadith, Fiqh, Seerah)
Arabic Language
Modern subjects including Science, Maths, English, and Social Studies
Alhamdulillah, our graduates have progressed to careers in pharmacy, optometry, engineering, languages, and more. With small class sizes and dedicated teachers, we focus on both character development and academic success.

Running an independent Islamic school without state funding is incredibly difficult. Despite modest school fees, the college currently faces an annual shortfall of over £140,000.
